THE SAINT-CYR FOUNDATION

Supports and promotes research at the Military Academy of Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan
and its research center, as well as the Defense Department.

It promotes the influence of the armed forces through an increased partnership with companies and civilian actors by :

• Developing, through appropriate actions, the excellence and the international cultural opening of research and training

• Supporting research work shared between the Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan Military Academy Research Center and other research centers, whether military or civilian, public or private

– Promoting exchanges in various forms, including: conferences, seminars, specific events, publications

To this end, the Saint-Cyr Foundation implements the following means of action:

• Funding and support for teaching and research chairs, centers of expertise or centres of excellence

– The establishment of partnerships with French and foreign institutes and research centers

• The organization of events and exhibitions

• Support for study and research activities, in particular through the recruitment of doctoral or post-doctoral students or the purchase of equipment

• The animation of platforms of exchanges, reflections and actions, relying among others on symposiums, study days and seminars

• The editing and distribution of all information materials, publications, research papers and works related to the goals of the Foundation

For the past 15 years, the Saint-Cyr Foundation has held 6 research chairs (4 of which are still in progress)
20 scientific projects and more than 100 symposiums, seminars, study days and conferences.

CYBERDEFENSE
Inaugurated on July 2, 2012, the Cyber Defense Chair
and Cyber security Saint-Cyr Sogeti Thales aims to
to better anticipate future cyber threats by associating
the skills of the military and civilian worlds.

The Chair of Major Contemporary Strategic Issues
is a partnership between the University of Paris 1, MBDA, EADS, CEA, Astrium, Thales and the Saint-Cyr Foundation.

CHAIR
ETHICS OF DECISION
The Chair in Ethics of Decision, the result of a partnership
between the Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan schools, the Banque Française Mutualiste and the Saint-Cyr Foundation, was inaugurate
on Monday 24 November 2014
and ended on 24 November 2017.

JEAN MONNET

Inaugurated in July 2012, the Jean Monnet Chair
“European Defence and Security” and the pole
of the Research Center of the Schools of Coëtquidan
of the same name to which it is attached, its ambition is to
to promote knowledge of European issues.

AUGMENTED SOLDIER

This chair, inaugurated on May 23, 2017, aims to
to develop research in the field of the conditions of evolution of the infantryman in his environment by associating the skills of the civilian and military worlds.

CENTER OF EXPERTISE
CENTER OF EXPERTISE IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM

The Center of Expertise on Counter-Terrorism (CELT)
was created on the initiative of the Ecoles de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan
in December 2015, in partnership with the Executive
the UN Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC), the Saint-Cyr Foundation and the SNCF. It is under the direction of
Mr. Jean-Paul Laborde, former Executive Director
of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee.

OTHER RESEARCH PROJECTS
Projetc "Optical Processor Unit" (OPU)

In 2021, Naval Group entrusts a research team with
of the CREC Saint-Cyr, under the direction of Eric Jacopin
and with the support of the Saint-Cyr Foundation, a study project in artificial intelligence on behavioral engineering applied to real-time planning (ability to generate simple plans in a very short time).

The LightOn company, a French start-up, specialized in
in optical processors characterized by a
very high computing power and very low consumption, brings its know-how to the realization
of this project.

Solver study

In 2018 – 2019, Naval Group has asked a team to
of research directed by Grégory Giraud, teacher researcher at the CREC Saint-Cyr, to work on the following project,
with the support of the Saint-Cyr Foundation:
“investigation of an analytical solver methodology
for the detection of dynamic instabilities – Application
to underwater structures stressed by a shock wave”.

The results of this work were delivered at the end of 2019, perfectly meeting Naval Group’s many expectations in this area.
