Every year, officer candidates (élèves officiers) take part in various sporting challenges specific to each of the grandes écoles. In parallel with their schooling, they also develop large projects to champion causes that they hold dear.

Kilimanjaro Climb

Five female officer candidates of the academic class of the chef d’escadrons de Neuchèze de l’Ecole Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr plan to climb Kilimanjaro accompanied by a French veteran wounded in war.

Aurore, Bénédicte, Maëlle, Quitterie and Claire, who are between 21 and 23 years of age, have all completed preparatory classes at Grandes Ecoles in order to enter the l’École Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, which is the school of command and training for army officers.

Regarding veterans wounded in war, Cécile is a corporal in the 7th Battalion of Alpine Hunters (7ème Bataillon de chasseurs alpins) and was wounded in Afghanistan in 2011. She escaped with multiple fractures, hematomas and head trauma. CABAT, which aids wounded veterans of the Army, helped her to rebuild her life through sport. Most notably, she participated in several sports courses where she was able to win a few medals.

The 4L Trophy

Since 1997, the Raid 4L Trophy brings together students between 18 to 28 years of age for an extraordinary adventure.
Beginning in France, the teams must meet in Morocco via the mythical 4L and transport school supplies for Moroccan children in need.
The objective of this philanthropic race is not speed but orientation and piloting in the desert.
Each year, officer candidates start off the race, which has become legendary in the world of the grandes écoles and they fly the colors of Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan as far as Morocco.

Course Croisière EDHEC

The Course Croisière EDHEC (CCE), also called the EDHEC Sailing Cup, is a student regatta held every year around Easter since 1969. The first European student sporting event, this event brings together 3,000 students, often from the grandes écoles, with 20 different nationalities and representing five continents.

The students of EDHEC, who are part of the first French student association, organize the race. Though the regatta is the heart of the Course Croisière EDHEC, the Trophée Terre, raid nature, and the Trophée Sable (competition on sand) have been added to diversify the event since its creation. The village, with a large tent, stands and a food and beverage area, give the Course Croisière EDHEC an aura of festivity, which adds to this serious sporting event, which is registered on the amateur calendar of the Fédération Française de Voile.

Every year, officer candidates wear the colors of the Écoles de Saint-Cyr Coëtquidan to win the sea, land and sand Trophies.
